Designing and constructing a one-of-a-kind, spaceship-shaped church in one of India’s most seismically active regions required more than bold architectural vision—it demanded precision engineering, advanced BIM workflows and seamless collaboration across teams and locations. ISB Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., a leader in prefabricated and pre-engineered steel structures with over three decades of experience, turned to Tekla Structures to bring this ambitious landmark to life.
Located in a remote region classified as Seismic Zone 5, the highest seismic risk category in India, the project posed significant structural, logistical and execution challenges. The building was designed to accommodate more than 5,500 people, spans a total built-up area of 11,000 square meters and incorporates approximately 1,300 tons of structural steel. Its defining feature—a fully curved, spaceship-inspired form with a 65-meter clear span roof—eliminated the possibility of conventional straight-line construction and made steel the only viable structural solution.
