In an era when digital transformation is more than just a buzzword, companies across industries are looking for innovative ways to cut costs, increase efficiency and make a positive contribution to a sustainable environment.
Installation Company Kruit, a seasoned player in the construction industry specializing in installation work on large residential projects, recently embarked on one such transformative journey. With a rich 62-year history and a dedicated team of nearly 90 permanent employees, Installation Company Kruit faced the challenge of modernizing their traditional way of working.
In this blog, we take a closer look at Kruit's move from a traditional paper filing system to a streamlined, digital solution with Trimble's help, resulting in reduced failure costs, less tree consumption and a solid foundation for the future.
Challenges of Traditional Document Management at Kruit
With thousands of folders full of crucial documents filling the aisles of their offices, it was clear that change was needed. As Richard Beijer, Director of Installation Company Kruit tells us, "Before we got in touch with Trimble about digitization, we were mainly working with project folders. So basically everything was still physically printed out in binders."

The impact of these outdated systems was palpable. Duncan de Vries, Project Manager at Installation Company Kruit explains, "In the past, this did show that we were unfortunately working with outdated drawings," wasting valuable time correcting errors that could have been avoided. But as they rightly stress, this is not the path they want to take.

Embracing digitization
Enter Trimble. With advanced digital solutions, such as Viewpoint For Projects, Installation Company Kruit got a fresh perspective on their document management and a new way to manage and share their projects.
Laurens Duijm, Consultant at Trimble, clarifies, "Viewpoint For Projects is an online platform that helps parties in the construction industry fill and work out their project digitally. So you store all your files there that are relevant to the project. You can let external parties contribute to the environment and you can share your documentation from your environment with other parties you need to deliver to. And in addition, it provides all kinds of tools to do work in the office, such as approving documents, reviewing, noticing documents, to do that all within one digital platform." This transition meant not only a reduction in failure costs, but also a more efficient process for sharing and managing critical documents.
Efficiency Improvement
But the collaboration didn't stop there. With Trimble's Viewpoint Field View, they can bring all the information from the construction site to the office and thus accelerate the digitization of their processes. As Duncan de Vries enthusiastically announces, "For me as a project manager, it's really nice that as soon as those guys finish the job, they can take a neat picture: what it was like, how it looks, how they left it, delivered. They give it a tick and the job is done there." This ability to capture and share data on site has not only improved communication, but also increased the overall efficiency of the project.

Future Vision: Kruit's Ambition within the Construction Industry
These integrated solutions have not only resulted in less paperwork, reduced failure costs and improved competitiveness, but have also enabled Installation Company Kruit to match the growing demand for digitization in the construction industry. As Richard Beijer concludes, "What it gives us is that we always have clarity on which documents the mechanics and project managers have to work with. We hook into the market where the demand is with regard to digitization. And we are ready for the WKB to go along with that."
With this new approach, Kruit is poised to face the challenges of the future construction industry with confidence.
