Armor Ingénierie, founded in 1985 in the Brittany region of France (Côtes d'Amor and Ile-et-Vilaine), is a design office specializing in fluids and TCE (heating, plumbing, building economics, water treatment, smoke extraction, electricity and SSI). The company offers its expertise in the construction and renovation of residential, commercial and industrial buildings.
Armor Ingénierie, a Trimble customer since 2014, successfully uses various Trimble products such as Trimble Nova CAD/CAM software and Trimble Connect (previously known as Tekla BIMsight).
Trimble Connect is a collaboration tool that connects BIM project participants and data in one place - enabling informed decision-making and greater efficiency. In this article Mr. Erwan Balcou, Technical Director of Armor Ingénierie, explains how Trimble Connect is used by his team and partners, and all the benefits gained.
Erwan Balcou and his team collaborate daily with different stakeholders on projects of all sizes. It was therefore crucial for them to use a tool that would enable them to easily share data with the key players in the project. This is what they did with Trimble Connect. This collaborative BIM tool gave their customers, architects and engineers, an immediate overview of the entire MEP design - at every stage of the project.
"We use Trimble Connect as a viewer tool to easily exploit and present our projects (IFC) to customers and Architects, or to visualize the synthesis during a site meeting." Explains Mr Balcou, "For example, when building an operating room, it's easier for a surgeon to 'project' himself into a 3D visual space than onto a 2D plan. We therefore use Trimble Connect to enable our customers to really position themselves in their workspaces and visualize every detail in order to end up with a project that perfectly meets users' expectations and needs."

It also saved Armor Ingénierie a considerable amount of time.
"Trimble Con__nect has enabled us to avoid the back-and-forth of unconstructive information between us and our customers. The 3D presentation of our projects has saved us an enormous amount of time in terms of understanding," says Mr. Balcou.
Trimble Connect's direct integration with Trimble Nova CAD software is an added benefit. With a single click, all models for projects such as the Conservatoire de Musique (La SUZE) and the Centre Inter-Administratif (CIA) Saint Brieuc Agglomération, can be stored easily and securely in the platform.
But also, all this data is accessible from the office or the construction site; the only requirement being an internet connection. "We use Trimble Connect to attach PDF files to the model, as this allows us to attach data sheets to each of the elements, to provide additional information on all the technical elements."
