Trimble Acquires Visual Statement to Expand its Presence in Public Safety

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 12, 2006 Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) today announced that it has acquired privately-held Visual Statement Inc. of Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada in an all-cash transaction. Visual Statement provides state-of-the-art desktop software tools for crime and collision incident investigation, analysis and reconstruction, as well as state-wide enterprise solutions for reporting and analysis used by public safety agencies. The company is an additional investment in the Mobile Solutions business segment that supports Trimbles strategy of providing productivity solutions for mobile workers. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Visual Statements software provides real-time mapping and diagramming of traffic accidents and crime scenes through direct communications with all types of electronic measuring tools used by law enforcement specialists. The software applications, loaded onto a handheld, notebook or desktop computer, allow officers to collect data at the scene in electronic form, which significantly reduces paperwork and facilitates the reporting and review process. Visual Statements desktop software, Vista FX2, is an innovative 3-D incident diagramming and reconstruction software product developed in Microsofts .Net environment. Vista FX can be used with a total station to add accurate positioning information. With the addition of its Smart Roads module, the software provides animations to recreate incidents, which may be used in reports and court room proceedings. Visual Statements enterprise software, ReportBeam, links state agencies via the Internet to one report management system making information easily accessible to multiple organizations.

The Visual Statement acquisition complements Trimbles subsidiary, Advanced Public Safety (APS). APS software provides real-time information to police officers via in-vehicle computers and handheld mobile computing devices to improve safety, productivity and accuracy. In addition, APS offers a variety of software solutions for fire and rescue personnel to complete inspection and emergency medical reports as well as mapping and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) applications. The combination of APS and Visual Statement will provide a comprehensive suite of solutions to offer public safety agencies throughout the Americas.

"Visual Statement is a leader in developing innovative software-based solutions specifically designed for the public safety industry. The company has demonstrated profitable revenue growth and has built a strong market position worldwide," said Mark Harrington, vice president of strategy and business development for Trimble. "The Visual Statement acquisition expands our position in the public safety market and supports our long-term strategy of offering innovative solutions for mobile workers."

"The staff of Visual Statement is very excited to join Trimbles growing public safety business," said Mike Kennedy, president of Visual Statement, Inc. "By combining our software with APSs products, we can offer the law enforcement community a highly advanced, comprehensive solution for its investigative, reporting, and analytic requirements."
