Trimble Adds T2 Terrain Compensation Technology to EZ-Steer and EZ-Guide Plus Systems

Trimble AgGPS 332 Receiver: First to Use OmniSTAR XP Service

DECATUR, Ill., Aug. 30, 2005 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today the T2™ Terrain Compensation Technology option for its
AgGPS® EZ-Steer™ assisted steering system and AgGPS EZ-Guide® Plus lightbar guidance system for agricultural vehicles. The T2 technology improves accuracy when driving across sloping terrain and rough ground, which is ideal for reducing overlaps and skips to increase productivity during any farm operation with undulating terrain and rough field conditions. The T2 technology is an option for new and existing EZ-Steer users.
The announcement was made today at the Farm Progress Show.
AgGPS EZ-Steer System - Affordable Assisted Steering
Winner of the AgriMarketing 2005 product of the year, the EZ-Steer system is the most affordable, portable and proven assisted steering system on the market today. For US$6,560 users can purchase a complete assisted steering system, which includes the EZ-Guide Plus lightbar and EZ-Steer, with +/- 6-8 inch pass-to-pass accuracy (95% of the time). Since 2004, the system has been used worldwide for applications such as tillage, seeding, spraying, spreading, harvesting and swathing. Return on investment is fast because it can be used across many field operations from tillage to harvest.
The EZ-Steer assisted steering system sets a new standard by using GPS and an electric motor mounted on the steering column to keep the vehicle on line without the use of hydraulics. It uses the GPS guidance from the EZ-Guide Plus lightbar and automatically turns the steering wheel. This allows drivers to focus on in-field tasks, such as implement or spray boom operations, to improve job quality and greatly reduce operator fatigue.
The EZ-Steer system typically installs in 30 minutes on over 350 vehicle models - old and new. Once an AB or curved line is set, the engage button is pressed to begin assisted steering on the swaths. The operator can take manual control of the tractor steering by simply turning the wheel, which causes the EZ-Steer system to automatically disengage.
The EZ-Steer system's affordability, ease of installation and portability between vehicles allows farmers to equip their fleet with assisted steering. For more information, visit
The AgGPS T2 Terrain Compensation Technology for the EZ-Guide Plus system and EZ-Steer system is expected to be available in Fall 2005. Contact a Trimble Agriculture reseller for details or call 1-800-865-7438.
