New Version of Trimble's Terramodel Software Streamlines Surface Design Process for
Earthwork and Construction Contractors

Design it, Grade it, Check it
Terramodel Version 10.2 Provides Additional Support for Earthwork and Site Preparation Applications

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 27, 2003 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today introduced a new version of its Terramodel® software designed to move data effectively through the "Design it, Grade it, Check it" process. Terramodel version 10.2 is ideal for a range of earthwork and site preparation applications -- including commercial, industrial and residential. The new version allows design engineers and construction contractors to create surface designs faster and more efficiently.
Terramodel software provides tools for the essential tasks of earthwork and material volume analysis and data preparation for construction machine control and stakeout applications. Data flows seamlessly from the original survey to Terramodel software for design and then to machine control or field systems for stakeout, grade checking and other site measurement tasks -- without the need for data exchange or reformatting of information. This streamlined process eliminates errors and improves the quality of the contractor's work.
Terramodel, version 10.2 software provides a range of features specifically designed to meet the needs of construction earthwork contractors through the progression of design, grading and checking. Key new features include:
  • A new SideSlope command which provides an efficient method for designing complex earthworks and surface features. SideSlope significantly reduces the time traditionally spent on these design or modeling operations.
  • Automation of the processes for creating surface designs that allows improved design data flow from Terramodel to Trimble's 3D machine control solutions for grading work, or the new Trimble SCS900 Site Controller system for grade checking.
  • Expansion of the Terramodel Field Data Module which provides all the tools to read, edit, clean, process and export points, lines, surfaces, and roads to field systems supplied by Trimble.
"Terramodel is a key component of Trimble's solutions for earthwork and site preparation contractors, and version 10.2 provides a range of enhancements specifically designed to address the needs of earthwork operations," said Mark Forrest division vice president of Construction for Trimble's Geomatics and Engineering Division. "With the new SideSlope command, the automation of certain processes, and the ability to move data more efficiently through the phases of design, grading, and checking, Terramodel 10.2 allows contractors to perform earthwork operations faster and more accurately."
Trimble's Terramodel 10.2 software is available now through Trimble's Geomatics and Engineering Division dealer network.
