Trimble Wins Order for 25,000 GPS Receivers from Digicore
Digicore Secures $22 Million Fleet Management Contract in South Africa Using Trimble GPS

SUNNYVALE, Calif., July 10, 2000 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that Digicore Holdings Ltd., the leading fleet management supplier in South Africa, has placed an order for 25,000 Global Positioning System (GPS) receivers. The Trimble GPS receivers will be used in Digicore's C-Track, a real-time fleet management system.

Digicore secured a five-year, $22 million contract to equip 19,000 Telkom Ltd. vehicles, South Africa's telecommunications authority, with its GPS-based C-Track system. The contract is believed to be one of the largest fleet management outsourcing projects in the world.

Digicore's C-Track system will be used to increase productivity and efficiency as well as enhance security of fleet operations.

Digicore received the contract from Debis Fleet Management, a company co-owned by Daimler-Chrysler and Kagiso Trust, who recently won the $750 million outsourcing contract to manage Telkom's vehicle fleet.

"We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with Trimble in this ground-breaking project," said Deon du Rand, director of Digicore. "With Trimble's record of supplying quality GPS receivers and technical support, we are assured of solid tracking performance from C-Track."

"Trimble is extremely pleased to be involved with one of the world's largest fleet management outsourcing projects with Digicore," said David Hall, vice president of Trimble's Mobile and Timing Technologies. "The five-year contract reinforces our reputation as a provider of quality GPS for fleet management applications. It also establishes a strong foothold for Trimble in the South African GPS market, an area with great potential for further development."

Digicore's C-Track fleet management system will use Trimble's LassenTM LP GPS module. The miniature receiver adds GPS location capability with minimal impact on a portable device's battery life. It enhances performance, yet dramatically reduces power consumption. By operating the fleet management system with the Lassen LP GPS module, Digicore can boast a high-tech subsystem that will provide speed, fuel consumption and brake exertion data as well as enable fleet operators to determine the vehicle's location anywhere in South Africa.
