Trimble Addresses Asian Construction Market with Local Language Software

SUNNYVALE, Calif., June 6, 2000 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today its latest software for land surveyors and civil engineers, the Trimble Survey Controller™ version 7.60 for the TSC1™ data collector. In addition to full language support for Asian languages, the new software version provides additional features and functionality to support an even broader range of surveying instruments including robotic total stations.

Demonstrating a continued commitment to the global land surveying, civil engineering and construction markets, Trimble Survey Controller software version 7.60 now provides support for the Asian markets with Chinese, Japanese and Korean languages. Trimble's software already supports key markets in Europe and the Americas with German, French, Spanish and Portuguese.

"We are committed to extending our reach with tools that serve the global construction market," said Bryn Fosburgh, Trimble's director of land survey. "Asia represents a region of significant economic growth which translates to infrastructure development activities. By adding Asian language support to our software we can more effectively address the needs of the region."

The Trimble Survey Controller software version 7.60 takes interoperability to a new level, saving time and increasing productivity. Innovative features, such as the ability to switch seamlessly between optical, robotic and GPS survey instruments, bring extended convenience, speed and efficiency to field surveying. The Trimble Survey Controller software 7.60 provides an interface to Trimble GPS surveying instruments as well as optical and robotic instruments from other leading manufacturers.

Demonstrating versatility and seamless data flow, the Trimble Survey Controller software version 7.60 enables true plug-and-play support for a wide variety of survey equipment. The software makes working with mixed GPS and optical survey data simple and efficient, allowing surveyors and civil engineers to use one data collector for all their instruments. Back at the office, the new Trimble Geomatics Office™ software takes this mixed data and seamlessly integrates it directly into a single project. In addition, data can be transferred via the Trimble Link™ software module directly to the Autodesk® Survey software, a complementary product to AutoCAD® Land Development Desktop software. Efficient two-way data flow means that data can easily be imported from survey, design or Geographic Information System software to be uploaded to the Trimble Survey Controller prior to the field survey.

The Trimble Survey Controller 7.60 version software is available through the company's sales and dealer network. For customers with current support agreements, the software can be downloaded from the Trimble Web site.
