The City of Joliet Selects Trimble to Streamline Operations and

Increase Efficiencies in Field Service

SUNNYVALE, Calif., May 7, 2008 - Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that the City of Joliet, Illinois Public Utilities Department has selected the Trimble Fieldport™ software suite as its enterprise software suite. Fieldport was selected because of its extensive and easy-to-use asset management capabilities. Using Trimble Fieldport, Joliet's utilities department is also working to transition from HTE Sungard to an Enterprise GIS system.  By mapping to a SQL database, billing information can be transferred into the new system seamlessly.

"We've been a satisfied Trimble hardware GPS customer for years," said Jim Eggen, Director, City of Joliet Utilities Division. "There's no doubt that Trimble's Fieldport software is proven and that it can help us streamline operations and better serve our customers. For this project we were particularly impressed by the team's high level of support and their commitment to help us utilize Feildport to increase efficiencies, even during the integration process."

To keep up with the city's high-growth rate, Joliet is optimizing its processes with Fieldport software for asset management, maintenance, repair operations, and maintenance work planning and scheduling. Enhanced management reporting functionality is expected to help the utility department improve its asset performance and reliability and ensure the right resources are available to the field worker at the right time. With Fieldport software, the city of Joliet will work toward restructuring other critical work processes such as customer field service, Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and tracking, field inspection, inventory planning and field data collection.

"The City of Joliet Public Utilities Department is committed to meeting the needs of customers in its community and we are confident that Trimble Fieldport will pave the way for increased efficiencies in all facets of field service," said Katherine Sandford, general manager of Trimble's Utilities Field Solutions group. "We're proud our successful track record of helping customers, like the City of Joliet, take advantage of the efficiencies of mobile resource management and eliminate the stacks of paper that their field service workers and back office have been forced to contend with. Fieldport will provide immediate benefits to the City of Joliet as well as a modular solution that will grow with the City's needs.

Trimble's UtilityCenter software is currently used by more than 100 electric, gas and water/wastewater utilities throughout the U.S. Trimble's Utilities Field Solutions group specializes in implementing enterprise mobile workforce, computerized maintenance management (CMM), asset management, field data collection, staking and inspection solutions for electric, gas, water/wastewater and solid waste utilities.
