Trimble Introduces New Portable Laser Tool for Construction

MUNICH, Germany, April 19, 2010 — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today a new addition to its industry-leading line of laser tools—the Spectra Precision® HD100 Handheld Distance Meter. The advanced laser tool can be used in a wide variety of applications and is designed to give contractors a one-person distance measuring and estimating tool that is easy-to-use and can be carried in a pocket.

The announcement was made today at Bauma 2010, the world's largest construction equipment exposition.

The Spectra Precision HD100 Laser Distance Meter provides a bright, visible laser spot that allows users to safely measure hard-to-reach places, such as high overheads, factory interiors, or over water. Simple, quick, and reliable measurements are obtained with the press of a button. One person can measure distance with 1/16 (1.5 mm) accuracy up to 330 ft (100 m). A built-in tilt sensor quickly and simply determines tilts up to ± 45 degrees and can help prevent measurement errors when the distance meter is not held perfectly level. A multifunctional end piece is automatically detected and allows measuring out of corners, slots or from edges. The large display is automatically illuminated in dark conditions.

The HD100 applications include commercial and residential distance measuring, area and volume calculation, checking building squareness, measuring for material estimation, and checking slope and sloped distances.

The HD100 Handheld Distance Meter is available now through Trimble's Construction Tools Dealer Network.
