Trimble Introduces New Portable Android-Based Display for Agriculture

Combines the Capabilities of a Precision Farming Display with the Advantages of a Tablet

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 29, 2016—Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today its second Android™-based product for the agriculture market—the Trimble® MMX-070 display. The portable seven-inch device is initially available in the European market and combines the capabilities of a precision farming display with the advantages of a tablet. It can be used in the cab for precision agriculture tasks, used in the field for scouting and mapping, taken to the office for planning and data analysis, and is easily transferred between farm vehicles. As a result, it allows farmers to use one device for multiple activities, providing increased versatility and convenience. The MMX-070 display is an entry-level product for farmers who are beginning to use precision agriculture solutions, but is also easily upgradeable so they can add more advanced capabilities as their needs evolve.

The MMX-070 display can be used as a manual guidance system in the tractor cab and as an ISOBUS Universal Terminal, which ensures the display can communicate with and control implements that use ISOBUS standards. This eliminates the need for multiple displays in the tractor cab and reduces clutter while also providing cost savings through the use of one display. The ISOBUS task controller, which provides automatic rate and section control, is easy to access in the working screen and enables farmers to use one consistent interface to efficiently operate their ISOBUS devices.

Featuring Wi-Fi connectivity, the MMX-070 display provides access to the Ag App Central marketplace where farmers can access Trimble Connected Farm™ apps as well as Trimble-approved third-party apps. By accessing the apps that are most useful to their farm operations, language and regional compliance requirements, farmers can customize their experience and benefit from improved productivity, streamlined workflows and better data management. The Ag App Central marketplace provides farmers with one convenient location to download and install apps, view descriptions and images, report issues, connect with developer partners, and stay current with on-demand updates. In addition, the data connectivity of the display provides growers with access to the entire Connected Farm solution where they can view field activities and other key farm information all in one central location enabling better decision making with real-time data.

Built on the Android-based operating system, the Trimble MMX-070's sharp visuals and touch commands are similar to today's tablets and smartphones with which many farmers are already familiar, making it a user-friendly and intuitive display. The multi-touch display screen allows for fast shrinking and expanding map views, dragging application widgets and single-touch panning all with the use of one hand.

"The MMX-070 display is the first commercial grade, mobile precision farming display," said Pierre-Andre Rebeyrat, strategic marketing director of Trimble's Agriculture Division. "It provides farmers with the convenience of using one device for their precision farming activities regardless of whether those activities are in the cab, in the field, or in the office. The display is also incredibly easy to use with one consistent interface that operates ISOBUS devices, and is customizable by allowing farmers to download the apps that are most relevant to their farming needs."

The Trimble MMX-070 is available now in most European countries. To learn more about the display, visit: To find a Trimble reseller, visit:
