Plancal Transitions to Trimble Brand
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Jan.14, 2015—Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that Plancal has transitioned to the Trimble brand. Trimble acquired Plancal in 2012 and the rebranding reflects both the evolution of Trimble as well as its vision for the future.
Since the acquisition, Trimble and Plancal have shared a unified goal—to provide a complete set of solutions for the mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) industries by combining Plancal's Computer Aided Design (CAD)/Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Business Software solutions with Trimble's industry leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions. For example an MEP contractor or engineer using Plancal nova, a CAD/CAE software, can easily add layout points to send to Trimble Field Link, which allows them to more precisely identify where MEP components—hangers, stub-ups, equipment pads—should be placed on a construction site. The ability to integrate data throughout a project lifecycle, while eliminating costs through better accuracy and interoperability, provides MEP users with increased efficiency throughout all stages of a project, whether in the office or out in the field.

BIM is a process being rapidly adopted by the world's construction, engineering and architectural communities to produce, communicate and analyze building models. Trimble's BIM focus is on the deployment of integrated solutions for the engineering and contracting community, with enhanced use throughout the construction process including BIM to Field. Trimble's BIM to Field vision extends the design data created in the office down to field level systems for precise delivery of design and construction elements. The result of integrating Plancal's software solutions with Trimble's estimating, project management and BIM to Field solutions is a compelling set of dedicated MEP workflows and productivity solutions for customers.

"Transitioning Plancal to the Trimble brand continues to reinforce the goal of providing a complete portfolio of building construction solutions while strengthening our commitment to meet the unique needs of the European MEP engineering and construction market," said Pat Bohle, general manager of the MEP division. "Under the Trimble brand we will continue to emphasize the strengths of each company—Plancal's ability to offer localized construction software applications and Trimble's positioning and BIM expertise for MEP's field layout and project lifecycle management solutions."

Trimble's Plancal solutions are within the portfolio of Trimble Buildings, a part of Trimble's Engineering and Construction segment focused on solutions that optimize the complete Design-Build-Operate (DBO) lifecycle of buildings. Trimble is dedicated to transforming the industry—increasing productivity, reducing waste and optimizing schedules, budgets and real estate portfolios—with powerful solutions that streamline communication and collaboration. These targeted solutions enable architects, engineers, contractors, owners and occupiers to realize greater agility, efficiency and insight. Used in over 150 countries around the world, Trimble Buildings' solutions are transforming the way the world designs, builds and operates infrastructure and buildings.

Trimble's Plancal solutions will be showcased at the Swissbau trade fair (Booth C 20 / Hall 4.12) Jan. 12-16, 2016.

About Trimble

Trimble applies technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive. Solutions are focused on applications requiring position or location—including surveying, construction, agriculture, fleet and asset management, public safety and mapping. In addition to utilizing positioning technologies, such as GPS, lasers and optics, Trimble solutions may include software content specific to the needs of the user. Wireless technologies are utilized to deliver the solution to the user and to ensure a tight coupling of the field and the back office. Founded in 1978, Trimble is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif.
