Tensing Mobile GIS, our commercial off-the-shelf field mapping solution, allows the customer to take digital data from any corporate GIS and display it on either the Trimble® GeoExplorer® series, Recon®, and Juno™ series handhelds, or the Trimble Yuma™ rugged tablet computer. As a result, a user can support view and data capture applications, and planning and redlining features in the field.

  • Cox Communications Inc.
Cox Communications provides CATV and telecommunications services to more than six million customers throughout the United States. With more than 26 franchises, Cox will ultimately roll out Tensing Mobile GIS to 3,000 mobile users along with Tensing Web GIS for corporate-wide access to GIS data. The application developed for Cox was specifically designed based on the Model IT, now PNI data model, to ensure that redline information (both graphical and attribute data) can be updated to GE Smallworld.
  • Washington Gas
Washington Gas provides service to 900,000 customers in the Washington D.C. area. They currently employ Tensing Mobile GIS in the field to view their GE Smallworld data. Their initial install date was November 1999 and they have since expanded their implementation on a yearly basis. In addition, their locating company, Utiliquest, utilizes Tensing Mobile GIS in the field for locating services throughout their territory.
  • Elmar NV (Aruba)
ELMAR NV is the electricity company on the island of Aruba. Tensing completed a project to install Tensing Mobile GIS in the field for data capture. The field crews utilize Tensing Mobile GIS to capture and edit GIS data in the field. The field data is then brought back into the office to populate their GE Smallworld database. Furthermore, ELMAR has developed an application that will allow some of their field users to plan new networks in the field.
