The National Media Council of the United Arab Emirates has selected architect Santiago Calatrava's design proposal for the UAE Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai International Expo.
4.Located opposite Al Wasl Plaza in the heart of the 38-square-kilometer exhibition zone, the UAE Pavilion, inspired by a flying falcon, will showcase its country to 25 million visitors and exhibitors from 180 countries. The Expo will run from October 2020 to April 2021.
On July 4, 2017, Arabtec Construction (Dubai, UAE), a wholly owned subsidiary of leading infrastructure contractor Arabtec Holding ("Arabtec" or the "Group"), has been awarded a 353 million UAE dirham contract by the Abu Dhabi National Media Council for the construction of the UAE Pavilion for the 2020 Dubai International Expo. The pavilion is located opposite Al Wasl Plaza in the heart of the 4.38 square kilometer exhibition area.
The UAE Pavilion, designed by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava and inspired by a flying falcon, will be one of the most important landmarks at the 2020 Dubai International Expo. Construction of the pavilion has already been completed, with handover to take place at the end of 2019. The pavilion covers an area of 15,000 square meters and a total floor area of 19,200 square meters, including 2,000 square meters of upper floor space, 662 square meters of mezzanine floors, and 3,000 square meters of plaza floors and related facilities. 13,300 square meters of ground floor space, including gardens and parking areas.
