Cara Brickwork Limited is one of the largest bricklaying companies in the North West of England. With a presence in Wakefield, Manchester and Liverpool, the company has built up a formidable reputation for excellence and reliability.

In this case study, we talk to Niel Allen, Managing Director of Cara Brickwork Limited, to explore their adoption of Viewpoint Field View. Niel provides an overview of the decision-making process that led to the choice of Field View, highlighting the significant improvements and efficiencies achieved. In addition, he compares their previous working methods with their current practices, showing how this site management software has transformed their day-to-day operations.

The road to dematerialization

Cara Brickwork decided to go paperless to streamline its operations and avoid the problems associated with paper-based systems. The use of hard copies for timesheets, health and safety forms and general correspondence across all construction sites was resulting in a significant amount of clerical work each week. Neil explains:"[Going] paperless was a no-brainer. We always envisaged it. It was just a matter of finding the right time, the right product and the right price."

Choosing Viewpoint Field View for digital worksite management was a strategic decision to improve efficiency, reduce waste and set a new standard for project management and execution. Thanks to Field View's user-friendly interface and customizable options, Cara Brickwork was able to implement a system tailored to their needs, including all the types of forms the team uses.

Implementing Field View on the worksite: tangible benefits

As the project team adopted Field View, the improvements were undeniable. Assigning and tracking tasks was easy, and real-time reports could be checked directly on the spot. "The advantage of using Field View is that once a form is closed, it is sent directly electronically to our relevant departments, i.e. health and safety, sales, quality, etc." This transformation enabled the team to focus more on their work rather than on managing paperwork.

Quantifiable success: impact on deadlines and budgets

Moving away from manual, paper-based processes and adopting Field View has improved project delivery and reduced overheads. Niel notes, "We've also saved money by not purchasing copy order blocks, health and safety blocks, etc. "These savings have highlighted the value of digital transformation, as it remarkably improves operational efficiency and profitability. The adoption of Field View marked a step towards modernization, and highlights that digital solutions deliver substantial gains, and that their role is essential when it comes to worksite management.
