Project description
Temporary pavilion for the Biennale de l'Architecture et des Paysages organized by the city of Versailles in 2022.
Challenges to meet
In February 2022, architects Chartier Dalix approached us to help them design a pavilion for the Biennale de l'architecture.
Based on an architectural sketch and after several discussions, we presented a temporary pavilion made from recycled or reused materials. This pavilion will be reassembled near the Olympic Aquatic Center during the summer of 2024. Having been well received, we plan to keep it permanently in the Plaine Saulnier ZAC.
A temporary surface foundation was built in reinforced concrete. It took the form of a dry stone wall containing topsoil for growing plants.
No mortar or cement was used in the construction of this wall. This biodiverse wall is a world first! Then the thinnest possible cover was put over the massive wall to house an exhibition.
Timeframe: mid-February to end of April 2022 for design with the architects, technical studies, fabrication and assembly. The stone layout was designed by the Chartier Dalix agency.
We integrated their IFC model into tekla to design the structure.
The formwork and reinforcement plans were drawn up using Tekla Structures.
The metal structure follows the shape of the roof's chips. It's a light but technical framework made up of curved I-beams and box girders.
Thanks to Tekla Structures, we were able to have the developed sheets unstripped for fabrication. Tekla Structures was used to lay out the roof.
