Specializing in structural engineering and precast design, Yeonwoo PC Engineering has been striving to meet the diverse and differentiated needs of its customers and strive for eco-friendly design through continuous development of construction methods for more than 20 years. recognizing the need for BIM to improve productivity and collaboration, as well as to reduce the speed and errors of the existing 2D CAD design method, Yeonwoo PC Engineering adopted Tekla Structures in 2015 and has now implemented a number of projects with maximum productivity and efficiency.
In particular, Yeonwoo PC Engineering has developed its own Tekla Structures components to work faster and more accurately to meet the detailed design, manufacturing and contextual requirements for Korean precast designs, while minimizing human error and pursuing high productivity.
Accurate quotes that increase bid success
to extract reliable quantities at the bidding stage and increase the success rate of the bid, a conceptual model is created with Tekla Structures. using this conceptual model, they are able to accurately estimate volumes and present the structural system to the client in a visualized form, which increases their win rate. after winning the order, they can add details to the model to create a model for the production drawings and use it for subsequent work, which greatly improves the work process.

Consistent and accurate data
When we adopted Tekla Structures, we developed a component to implement modeling according to national standards, where each variable value allows us to model geometry, rebar, and hardware in the correct size, location, and number. the developed components allowed us to speed up the modeling process and, most importantly, maintain the same quality no matter who is modeling.
Error-free and highly workable
After modeling, Tekla's cloning feature, Master Drawing, is used to generate many production drawings at once and automatically calculate the amount of concrete, rebar, and hardware reflected in the model, which greatly improves workability by producing drawings and bills of quantities more accurately and quickly than before.
"The work efficiency has improved by about 50% compared to the previous 2D, and the design errors have been reduced by nearly 90%," said Yeonwoo Yeon, head of the design team at PC Engineering, expressing satisfaction with the improvement in workability and design quality.
In addition, the nature of precast design requires frequent design changes, and in traditional 2D design, when a member is modified, the related drawings and bills of quantities have to be modified individually. In Tekla Structures, when a member is modified, all the information needed in the factory and on site is updated, including assembly plans, elevations, production drawings, bills of quantities, etc.

Superior visibility
Modeling with Tekla Structures provides clear visibility, making it easy to check detailed modeling or interferences by eye, and the Clash Check feature automatically detects clashes. visibility is one of the biggest advantages of BIM, allowing for accurate understanding and judgment when reviewing designs with people in the factory and on site. in particular, dimensional lines can be represented in the model so that design information can be understood without looking at the drawings.

Contribute to seamless collaboration between project participants
Since it is difficult to communicate accurately between project participants using only printed materials such as drawings, Yeonwoo PC Engineering provides a service that extracts IFC data from Tekla Structures and utilizes the viewer program provided by Trimble to facilitate model-based discussions on site.
In factories and production sites, accurate calculation tables for each member are also provided based on the model to minimize possible errors. the calculation table provides information on the shape and quantity of rebar, hardware quantity, etc. to enable accurate procurement and production planning.
Building IoT-based process management services
Yeonwoo PC Engineering is providing a service that enables efficient work by sharing information between designers, PC factories, and construction sites to become 5D-BIM in connection with a real-time precast construction management system using components, drawings, and report extraction methods developed so far.

This is a service that can be checked and managed in real time by reflecting information on the status of each lifecycle, such as shipment, site receipt, and installation completion, in the model through RFID tags attached to each precast member. not only is it easy to modify and manage zoning plans and process tables for each construction plan in the factory and on site, but it also enables crane lifting range review and facility movement planning. the advantage is that manufacturers and construction companies can communicate with each other based on the same data, and based on this, process management and off-the-shelf management are carried out smoothly. Yeonwoo PC Engineering now plans to upgrade these services to Trimble Connect based on the cloud environment.
Expand BIM-based precast design

Yonwoo PC Engineering's use of BIM is growing every year, and as of June 2019, the company has worked on about 36 different types of projects. "With the continuous development of Tekla Structures components, we have been able to establish an effective process that can be applied to a wide range of projects, improving the quality of our projects and greatly increasing the satisfaction of our practitioners and clients," says Lee Jong-min, Chairman of Yeonwoo PC Engineering. "As the demand for accurate model data delivery based on Tekla Structures from construction companies is noticeably increasing, we expect to be able to carry out more projects in the future with the improvement of our engineers' capabilities."

In addition, we plan to expand the use of BIM, which has been mainly focused on the design of logistics warehouses and underground parking lots, to various buildings such as apartment PCization, core PCization, and sculpture PCization. "Yeonwoo PC Engineering plans to provide optimal design and high-quality services based on BIM by upgrading the process management solution based on Trimble Connect, which is based on the cloud, and integrating and digitizing design information, construction information, and production information."
