The TOURS D'ESCALIERS SAFER project
Creation of two emergency stair towers: one on the boulevard side and one on the courtyard side. Design and layout of the steel structure and mesh.
Challenges to meet
For the staircase on the boulevard side, the staircase is inscribed in the existing masonry.The staircase is inscribed to the millimeter, respecting the rules of the art of guardrails.The fasteners had to be designed for easy assembly.Integration of the geometric survey of the facades.Integration of the architectural facades for the mesh.The singular point of this project was the mesh, in fact, several manipulations had to be carried out to initially integrate the architectural image.
The next step was to create cassettes with folded edges.
The cassettes were then cut to create the mesh of the two cages, using the "polygonal cutting" function in Tekla Structures software. This operation required a great deal of patience, given the number of different cuts.
The benefits of BIM
Being able to integrate architectural, surveyor and masonry plans enabled real teamwork between offices, and nothing was left to chance.
