What is the BIM 2022 plan?

The core mission of the BIM 2022 Plan is to establish BIM globally in the French building world, making BIM the benchmark for all infrastructure projects. This BIM 2022 Plan is based on two axes:

Axis 1: Generalize BIM ordering

Actions of the BIM 2022 Plan
As we have just mentioned, the BIM 2022 Plan is structured around two main axes aimed at generalizing the use of digital technology in the construction sector.
The first priority focuses on the widespread use of BIM for orders, by making the practices of all players in the sector more secure and reliable, and is broken down into four specific actions:
Action 1: Make BIM orders and contracts reliable and secure, to ensure clarity and fairness of expectations and responsibilities.
Action 2: Simplify project control and self-control to improve process efficiency and accuracy.
Action 3: Define and ensure that the needs of the industry are taken into account in work on BIM standards, to speed up their development and ensure their convergence.

The second axis is aimed at deploying BIM in the territories by supporting the upskilling of professionals and providing an ecosystem of innovative and accessible digital tools, and also includes four actions:
Action 5: Develop and share skill-building tools to facilitate the adoption of BIM.
Action 6: Assess and recognize the BIM maturity of professionals to enhance their expertise and encourage the adoption of BIM.
Action 7: Create a dynamic ecosystem at local level to encourage exchanges between BIM players.
Action 8: Enable players to collaborate concretely in BIM thanks to an ecosystem of tools, to facilitate and optimize collaboration.

The future of the BIM Plan
From 2023, and for a period of two years, the Direction de l'Habitat, de l'Urbanisme et des Paysages(DHUP ) is spearheading a third BIM Plan in collaboration with ADN Construction (Association pour le développement du numérique dans la construction) and Agence Qualité Construction(AQC). This new cycle has a budget of 6 million euros. The six-point action plan continues to focus on democratizing the use of BIM, as well as training and disseminating information via BIM Tour conferences.The BIM Plan offers a unique opportunity to rethink and reshape the construction sector in France.
