Steven W. Berglund
President and CEO


Steven Berglund has served as president and chief executive officer of Trimble since March 1999. Prior to joining Trimble, Mr. Berglund was president of Spectra Precision, a group within Spectra Physics AB. Mr. Berglund's business experience includes a variety of senior leadership positions with Spectra Physics, and manufacturing and planning roles at Varian Associates. He began his career as a process engineer at Eastman Kodak. He attended the University of Oslo and the University of Minnesota where he received a B.S. in chemical engineering. Mr. Berglund received his M.B.A. from the University of Rochester. Mr. Berglund is a member of the board of directors of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. He is also a member of the board, as well as the construction sector board, of the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. In December 2013, Mr. Berglund was appointed to the board of directors and compensation committee of Belden Inc., a global provider of end-to-end signal transmission solutions.

Robert Painter
Chief Financial Officer


Robert Painter was appointed chief financial officer of Trimble in February 2016. He is responsible for Trimble's worldwide finance operations. Mr. Painter joined Trimble in 2006 and assumed leadership of Trimble's business development activities, leading all acquisition and corporate strategy activities. From 2009 to 2010, he served as general manager of the Company's Construction Services Division. From 2010 to 2015, he served as general manager of the Company's joint venture with Hilti, which was created to foster collaborative development of product innovations for the building construction industry. In 2015, Mr. Painter was appointed vice president of Trimble Buildings, a Trimble group focused on BIM-centric businesses that span the Design-Build-Operate continuum of the Building lifecycle. Prior to joining the Company, Mr. Painter served in a variety of management and finance positions at Cenveo, Rapt Inc., Bain & Company, Whole Foods Markets, and Kraft Foods. In 1993, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from West Virginia University, and received an MBA in Business from Harvard University in 1998.

Rajat Bahri

Rajat Bahri joined Trimble as chief financial officer in January 2005. Prior to joining Trimble, Bahri served for more than 15 years in various capacities within the financial organization of several subsidiaries of Kraft Foods, Inc. and General Foods Corporation. Most recently, he served as the chief financial officer for Kraft Canada, Inc. From June 2000 to June 2001 he served as chief financial officer of Kraft Pizza Company. From 1997 to 2000, Bahri was Operations Controller for Kraft Jacobs Suchard Europe. Bahri holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Delhi in 1985 and an M.B.A. from Duke University in 1987.

In 2005, he was elected to the board of STEC, Inc., a memory storage manufacturer.

Bryn A. Fosburgh

Bryn Fosburgh is senior vice president responsible for the Caterpillar, Hilti, and Nikon Joint Ventures, U.S. Federal government strategy and accounts, OEM construction machine business and professional services groups. From 2014 to 2016, he served as senior vice president for Trimble's Geospatial, Civil Engineering and Construction (CEC), and Building businesses, and the Caterpillar and Hilti-related joint ventures. From 2010 to 2014, Mr. Fosburgh was responsible for our Buildings and Heavy Civil construction businesses along with our Caterpillar and Hilti joint ventures. From 2009 to 2010, Mr. Fosburgh served as vice president for Trimble's Construction Division, Transportation and Logistics, Fields Service Management (FSM) and a number of corporate functions and geographical regions. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Fosburgh was vice president for Trimble's Construction and Agriculture Divisions, and from 2005 to 2007, Mr. Fosburgh served as vice president and general manager of Trimble's Engineering and Construction Division. Mr. Fosburgh joined Trimble in 1994 and has held numerous roles, including vice president and general manager for Trimble's geomatics and engineering division, and division vice president of survey and infrastructure. Prior to Trimble, Mr. Fosburgh was a civil engineer and also held various positions for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Defense Mapping Agency. Mr. Fosburgh received a B.S. in geology from the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay in 1985 and an M.S. from the school of civil engineering at Purdue University in 1989.

Mark A. Harrington

Mark Harrington has served as a vice president of Trimble since 2004, and currently serves as vice president for Trimble's Agriculture, Forestry, Water and Energy Utilities and Public Safety Divisions, with responsibility for several corporate functions and geographical regions. From 2007 to 2009, Mr. Harrington served as vice president for Trimble's Survey and Mapping and GIS Divisions, and from 2004 to 2007, he served as vice president of strategy and business development. Prior to Trimble, Mr. Harrington served as vice president of finance at Finisar Corporation, chief financial officer for Cielo Communications, Inc., and Vixel Corporation, vice president of finance for Spectra-Physics Lasers, Inc. and vice president of finance for Spectra-Physics Analytical, Inc. Mr. Harrington began his career at Varian Associates, Inc. Mr. Harrington received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

James M. Veneziano
Senior Vice President


James Veneziano has served as a vice president of Trimble since 2009 and is currently senior vice president responsible for portions of Trimble's Mobile Solutions, Data Services and Hosting, Global Services and portions of the Advanced Devices segment. Mr. Veneziano joined Trimble in 1990 as a manufacturing engineer in the Company's Operations group. In 1993, he was appointed director of Operations. In 1998, Mr. Veneziano was appointed director of marketing for Agriculture and Mapping and GIS. From 2000 to 2005, Mr. Veneziano served as the general manager of Trimble's Agriculture business. From 2005 to 2009, he was the general manager of Trimble's Construction business. Prior to joining Trimble, Mr. Veneziano worked for Hewlett Packard in a variety of manufacturing positions including development engineer and engineering supervisor as well as new product introduction manager. He received a B.S. in electrical engineering from Colorado State University in Fort Collins in 1984.

Dennis L. Workman

Workman has served as vice president of various business divisions, currently including Advanced Devices and Applanix since September 1999. He was appointed Trimbles chief technical officer in March 2006. From 1998 to 1999, Workman was senior director and chief technical officer of the newly formed Mobile and Timing Technologies business group, also serving as general manager of Trimble's Automotive and Timing group. In 1997, he was director of engineering for Software & Component Technologies.

Workman joined Trimble in 1995 as director of the newly created Timing vertical market. Prior to Trimble, Workman held various senior-level technical positions at Datum Inc. During his nine year tenure at Datum, he held the position of CTO.

Workman received a B.S. in mathematics and physics from St. Marys College in 1967.

Ann Ciganer
Vice President
Strategic Policy


Ann Ciganer joined Trimble in 1989 and has served as Vice President of Strategic Policy since 1995. Prior to joining Trimble, she worked at SRI International. As a Research Analyst at SRI, she participated in multi-disciplinary research projects that included evaluating and recommending the selection and use of technologies for integration in the infrastructure of emerging economies. Study recommendations often included policy considerations to help ensure legacy benefit from the investment in technology. Ciganer was task leader in multi-task international research projects. At Trimble, she has participated in developing industry consensus positions during United States (U.S.) government outreach as the Global Positioning System (GPS) is modernized.

Ciganer has participated in international public outreach consultations on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). She provided support to the U.S. delegation to the World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) in 1997 and was a private sector member of the U.S. delegation to the WRC in 2000 and 2003. Ciganer has been awarded six patents on behalf of Trimble. In 2001, she was awarded the Institute of Navigation (ION) Norman P. Hays award for support contributing to the advancement of navigation.

Ciganer was formerly the first president of Joint Venture: Silicon Valley Defense Space Consortium; former chair of the Bay Area Regional Technology Alliance and is a current Representative to the Space-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) Federal Advisory Committee. Ciganer received her B.S. in Russian from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. and spent a semester at the University of St. Petersburg in Russia.

James A. Kirkland

General Counsel


James Kirkland currently serves as senior vice president, General Counsel and Secretary. He joined the company as vice president and general counsel in July 2008. Prior to joining Trimble, he served as general counsel and executive vice president, strategic development at Covad Communications. Mr. Kirkland also served as senior vice president of spectrum development and general counsel at Clearwire Technologies, Inc. Mr. Kirkland began his career in 1984 as an associate at Mintz Levin and in 1992 he was promoted to partner. Mr. Kirkland received his BA from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. in 1981 and his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1984.

Jürgen Kliem
Senior Vice President


Jürgen Kliem currently serves as senior vice president overseeing Trimble's Distribution Holdings, activities in Germany and various corporate functions and initiatives. Between 2012 and 2016, he was vice president for several businesses within the Advanced Devices segment, and was also responsible for various corporate functions, including key accounts and government funded projects. Mr. Kliem previously served as vice president of strategy and business development from 2008 until 2012. From 2002 to 2008, Mr. Kliem served as general manager of Trimble's Survey Division, and prior to that, Mr. Kliem was responsible for Trimble's Engineering and Construction Division in Europe. Mr. Kliem held various leadership roles at Spectra Precision, which was acquired by Trimble, and at Geotronics, a company acquired by Spectra Precision. Before joining Geotronics, Mr. Kliem worked in a privately-held surveying firm addressing cadastral, construction, plant and engineering projects. Mr. Kliem received a Diplom Ingenieur degree from the University of Essen, Germany in 1982.

Michael Lesyna

Strategy and Corporate Development


Michael Lesyna rejoined Trimble as vice president in September of 2013 and currently serves as senior vice president of Strategy and Corporate Development. Mr. Lesyna originally joined Trimble in 1999 until 2007. While at Trimble, he held both corporate staff and operational roles and was involved in much of the early development work that led to Trimble’s current leadership positions in the Engineering & Construction and Mobile Solutions segments. From 2007 to September 2013, Mr. Lesyna held several roles including CEO for Lunera Lighting, a venture-backed LED lighting company, and most recently a strategy consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers where he led acquisitions and large-scale business transformations. Prior to his initial tenure at Trimble, Mr. Lesyna spent six years at Booz Allen & Hamilton, where he served as a principal in the operations management group advising companies on a wide range of strategic issues. Prior to Booz Allen & Hamilton, Mr. Lesyna held a variety of engineering positions at Allied Signal Aerospace. Mr. Lesyna received his M.B.A., as well as both an M.S. and B.S. in mechanical engineering from Stanford University.

E. Michael Scarpa

Chief Human Resources Officer


Mike Scarpa joined Trimble in April of 2015 and currently serves as senior vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer.  Mr. Scarpa is responsible for managing all strategic and tactical HR initiatives supporting Trimble employees worldwide.

Mr. Scarpa joins Trimble with more than 20 years of progressive global human resources experience. Most recently, he served as vice president of human resources for Harman International based in Stamford, CT where he led the global HR function for a $2.2 billion division. He has also held human resources leadership positions at General Electric based in New York and Virginia as well as ABB based in Norwalk, CT.

Mr. Scarpa received a B.S. in Finance from Bentley University in 1987 and an MBA in Health Systems Finance from Union College in 1994.

Bruce E. Peetz
Vice President
Advanced Technology and Systems


Bruce Peetz joined Trimble in June 1988 and has held a variety of positions, including program and engineering management, and directing product development in both Surveying and Mapping. In January 1996, he was appointed general manager of Land Survey, and general manager of Systems Integration in 1998. In November 1998, Peetz was named vice president of Advanced Technology and Systems. Peetz was responsible for the integration of technologies that provide systems solutions as well as advanced technology efforts that were formerly a part of Trimble Labs. He also led the development of core software that may be leveraged across product lines.

Prior to joining Trimble, Peetz was a research and development manager at Hewlett-Packard.

Peetz received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He has more than 25 years experience in electronics, software, measurement and business.

Julie Shepard
Vice President
Finance and Chief Accounting Officer


Julie Shepard joined Trimble in December of 2006 as vice president of finance, and was appointed chief accounting officer in May 2007. Prior to joining Trimble, Ms. Shepard served as vice president of finance and corporate controller at Quantum Corporation. Ms. Shepard brings with her over 25 years of experience in a broad range of finance roles, with diverse experience ranging from early stage private equity backed technology companies to large multinational corporations. Ms. Shepard began her career at Price Waterhouse and is a Certified Public Accountant. She received a B.S in Accounting from California State University. She is a member of the AICPA, Financial Executive Institute and the California Society of CPAs.

Mary Kay Strangis
Vice President
Human Resources


Mary Kay Strangis joined Trimble as vice president of human resources in August 2008, with an extensive background that includes leadership positions in human resources and financial management. From 2006 to 2008 she served as a vice president of compensation and benefits at Spansion LLC, a previous joint venture of AMD and Fujitsu. She had a variety of roles at Agilent Technologies including director of executive compensation and global equity programs as well as finance controller positions.

Strangis began her career at Hewlett Packard in 1981 where she held senior management positions in financial planning and analysis.

She holds a BS degree in business administration from San Jose State University.

Darryl R. Matthews
Senior Vice President


Darryl Matthews currently serves as senior vice president and sector head responsible for Trimble's Agriculture, Forestry, Positioning Services and HarvestMark Divisions. From 2010 to 2015, Mr. Matthews served as president and general manager of the NAFTA Region for Nufarm Americas, Inc., a subsidiary of Nufarm Limited, a publicly-traded multinational agricultural chemical company. From 2008 to 2010, Mr. Matthews served as general manager of Nufarm Agriculture Inc., the Canadian subsidiary of Nufarm Limited. Mr. Matthews began his career at Dow AgroSciences in Canada where he held management roles in sales and marketing. From 2010 to 2015, he served on the Board of Directors for CropLife America. He received an Honors B.Sc. in Agriculture majoring in Horticultural Science and Business from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada in 1994.

Sachin J. Sankpal
Senior Vice President


Sachin Sankpal currently serves as senior vice president and sector head of Trimble's Intelligent Transportation Systems. From 2012 to 2015, Mr. Sankpal held various general management positions within Honeywell, including president of Honeywell International's Global Safety Products Division in Paris, France, vice president and general manager of Honeywell's Safety Products Division for Europe, Middle East, Africa and India. From 2010 to 2012, he served as vice president of Global Strategic Marketing for Honeywell's Life Safety Division. From 2003 to 2010, he held various business and operational roles at Avaya, Inc., including director of Strategy and Product Management, chief operating officer of Avaya-Japan, Ltd., operations leader in India, and director of Global Restructuring. From 2001 to 2003, he served as a director of Strategy and Finance for Trimble's Engineering & Construction Division. From 1994 to 1999, Mr. Sankpal was a consultant for Navigant Consulting based in Boston, Mass. He began his career at Langan Engineering & Environmental Services as a staff engineer. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Rutgers University, an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Maryland and an MBA from Dartmouth College.

Michael D. Bank

In February 2019, Michael Bank was appointed senior vice president of Trimble's Engineering & Construction business, where he had previously served as vice president since January 2016, as well as supervising Trimble’s Precision Tools, Accessories, Mining, Aggregates, Construction Logistics, Lifting Solutions, and Mobile Computing Solutions businesses. Prior to 2016, he served in general manager and business area manager roles in the Precision Tools, Accessories, and Mobile Computing Solutions businesses. He joined Trimble in 2006 through the acquisition of Apache Technologies, where he served as worldwide sales and marketing manager. Mr. Bank has over 35 years of experience in the construction technology industry. He has held positions in sales, marketing, engineering, product design and technical support. He received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati in 1984.

Ronald J. Bisio

In February 2019, Ronald Bisio was appointed senior vice president responsible for Trimble’s Surveying and Geospatial businesses, where he had previously served as vice president since April 2015. Prior to this role, he served as general manager for Trimble’s Rail business from January 2011 until April 2015. He joined Trimble in 1996 and has held several marketing, sales, and general management positions since then at Trimble. He earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Denver, a Master of Regional Planning degree from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Cartography from Salem State University in Salem, Massachusetts.

Rosalind D. Buick, Ph.D.

In February 2019, Rosalind Buick was appointed senior vice president responsible for Trimble's Buildings business, including Buildings, Architecture, General Construction, Mechanical Electrical & Plumbing, Real Estate & Workplace Solutions and Trimble Connect divisions, which business she had previously served as vice president since 2016. Previously, Dr. Buick served as general manager and vice president of the Civil Engineering & Construction, Aggregates and Mining divisions from 2009 to 2016. Dr. Buick joined the company in 1996 and worked in several capacities in Trimble Agriculture for 12 years. Dr. Buick began her career as a research scientist and university teacher at Virginia Tech and later at Lincoln University, New Zealand, in computer decision support software research applying simulation models, GIS, operations research and artificial intelligence to agricultural and environmental applications. She completed her Ph.D in plant physiology and simulation models in 1989, a degree in Agricultural Science in 1986 from Lincoln University, New Zealand, and an executive MBA from Duke University in 2016.

Thomas S. Fansler

Chief Technology Officer


In September 2019, Thomas Fansler was appointed senior vice president and chief technology officer for Trimble. Most recently, he served as senior vice president responsible for Trimble's Transportation sector, in which sector he had been a vice president since December 2018. From November 2015 to December 2018, he held various roles within the sector, most recently serving as president of Trimble's Transportation Mobility division (formerly PeopleNet). He joined the company in 2009 as the founder of Vusion, a compliance and analytics provider acquired by Trimble. Previously, he was co-founder and managing partner at Inter-Tax, Inc., the largest North American fuel tax provider at the time. Mr. Fansler is active in several industry organizations, currently serving on the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) Research Advisory Committee and served on the Board of Directors for the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and is a Past Membership Chair. He received his BA from Connecticut College and an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota.
