Holmen, a leading Swedish forestry company, has selected Trimble CONNECTED FOREST as its new, comprehensive forest management system for Holmen Skog. Holmen Skog is responsible for the management and development of the Holmen group’s land holdings, which amount to approximately 1.3 million hectares.
Selecting the CONNECTED FOREST suite represents not only an IT project, but a significant shift in Holmen Skog's approach to work and a strategic decision to be more data-driven. It also provides Holmen Skog the opportunity to manage data in a flexible way in the long term, to have control and to know in what format the data will come.
CONNECTED FOREST from Trimble Forestry is a digital platform that connects the entire forestry value chain, from planning and harvesting to transport and industrial processing. The platform will help Holmen Skog collect, analyze and share data in real time to improve efficiency, traceability and decision-making. As part of the project, Holmen Skog will also implement Land Resource Manager (LRM) for managing tabular and spatial information and CF Harvest for day-to-day planning and operations for harvesting execution and forestry services.
CONNECTED FOREST gives us a platform where we can add more solutions and systems in the future. We have a lot of data. Now we have a platform that makes it possible for our company to take a data-driven approach in our work for the long term. In Trimble, we have an active counterpart who continues to develop their software. We get inspiration from Trimble for our own development. — Clas Engström head of development, Holmen Skog
ForestX, the Trimble Forestry service partner in the Scandinavian market, will implement the digital transformation project. With well-known forestry and sawmill companies in Sweden, Denmark and Central Europe as customers, Holmen Skog will benefit both technical experts and forestry specialists who understand Swedish conditions.
