While there are various GPS/GNSS systems currently used in the heavy equipment industry, they can typically be categorized as either indicate only (uses GNSS as a guide to an operator) or fully automatic (exact information can be programmed into the machine for machine control). Both systems can utilize one or two GNSS receivers. Using only one GNSS receiver limits how the guidance system can orient the machine's position in respect to the site design. Using two GNSS receivers gives the guidance system two points of position allowing it to calculate what angle the machine is on relative to the site plan. GNSS used in machine control greatly reduces the cost of operation and increases profitability. With a solution from Integrated Technologies, only one receiver is needed as we offer receiver boards with dual antennas for both precise positioning and orientation.
