This update is provided free of charge from Microsoft.

Trimble Recon Battery Driver Patch(SprtNote_Recon_Battery_Driver_Patch.pdf - 296 KB)The Trimble® Recon™ handheld may incorrectly display a low battery warning, giving the impression that the battery is performing poorly. This may be caused by operating the device in cold temperatures, or using CompactFlash cards that have a high current draw, such as GPS or 802.11 cards. To resolve this problem, install Trimble Battery Driver Patch (Pocket PC).
Once installed, the battery driver patch decreases the battery voltage value used to trigger a low battery warning, increasing the amount of time before a warning appears. Support Note - Recon (all models) - Overview of the New Recon PowerBoot Module - English(SprtNote_NewReconPowerBootModule_Overview_13388a.pdf - 66 KB)The new NiMH PowerBoot Module™ battery pack (“the battery pack”) for the Trimble® Recon® handheld is a battery solution that offers two significant improvements over the old (legacy) model: 1) Faster charge time when used with the new international charger (4-9 hours compared to 12 hours for the legacy batteries). 2) Less susceptible to the battery memory effect or reduction of memory capacity if the battery is left on charge for long periods or is only partially discharged before recharging, which commonly occurs if the handheld is charged each night.
