Trimble RTX Mobile App Puts Satellite Correction Data in the Hands of Geospatial Users
Essen, Germany, Oct. 8, 2013—Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) introduced today the Trimble® RTX™ mobile app, built to serve end users across the survey, mapping and agriculture markets. Using Android smartphones and tablets, the Trimble RTX app enables the Trimble CenterPoint™ RTX post-processing service and the RangePoint™ RTX service activation portal to go mobile. The Trimble RTX app also offers a series of satellite utilities including a skyplot, information regarding satellite status, and signal-to-noise ratio graphs.
The announcement was made today at INTERGEO 2013, the world's largest conference on geodesy, geoinformatics and land management.
Powered by Trimble RTX technology, the GPS, GLONASS and QZSS enabled CenterPoint RTX post-processing service delivers better than 2 centimeter (1 inch) accuracy, and improves with larger observation files. With the Trimble RTX app, geospatial professionals using the CenterPoint RTX post-processing functionality can quickly and accurately establish their base station coordinates, reducing setup time to just minutes.
In this initial release, the CenterPoint RTX post-processing features include:
"We are committed to offering new ways of providing high-accuracy positioning," said Patricia Boothe, general manager of Trimble's Positioning Services Division. "With this new mobile app, we are delivering the power of Trimble RTX technology into the palms of our customers' hands."
The free Trimble RTX app is available forsmartphones and tablets using the Android operating system. Available now, theCenterPoint RTX post-processing feature operates on Gingerbread or higher. TheRangePoint RTX self-activation feature, available in the fourth quarter of 2013,requires Jelly Bean or higher. About Trimble RTX Technology
Trimble RTX (Real Time eXtended) is a high-accuracy GNSS correction technology delivering repeatable positions worldwide. By combining real-time data with innovative positioning and compression algorithms, Trimble RTX technology utilizes data from a global reference station infrastructure to compute high accuracy positions based on satellite orbit and clock information. Trimble RTX technology enables various solutions—including Trimble's RTX-based family of real-time correction services as well as the post-processing variant, Trimble Pivot™ RTX App and Trimble Pivot RTX App-PP infrastructure solutions, and the Trimble xFill™ bridging feature which "fills in" for RTK corrections in the event of temporary radio or Internet connection outages.
Trimble applies technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive. Solutions are focused on applications requiring position or location—including surveying, construction, agriculture, fleet and asset management, public safety and mapping. In addition to utilizing positioning technologies, such as GPS, lasers and optics, Trimble solutions may include software content specific to the needs of the user. Wireless technologies are utilized to deliver the solution to the user and to ensure a tight coupling of the field and the back office. Founded in 1978, Trimble is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif.
