Software Enhanced For GIS Data Maintenance
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 5, 1999 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today its Asset Surveyor® version 5.0 software for the TSC1™ data collector. The new software version provides Geographic Information System (GIS) data managers even more features and functionality for easy, flexible and efficient data collection and maintenance. Additionally, the software is fully compatible with Trimble's survey-grade systems for high accuracy GIS work.
The announcement was made at Trimble's Fifth International User Conference.
Seamless Data Flow from the Field to the GIS and Back Again
The Asset Surveyor 5.0 software's graphical displays and task-oriented controls ensure seamless data flow for both data collection and maintenance. As the cost of decision making using incorrect or old data increases, tools that facilitate in the collection and updating of GIS information are becoming even more essential for managing urban, utility and natural resource databases. The software allows users to take information from their GIS into the field for verification and update. Relocating features is fast and easy using the system's real-time GPS capabilities, enhanced navigation screens and advanced map display-including the display of background maps.
The software supports two-way data flow with leading GIS software packages, including ArcView, Mapinfo, Microstation and many others.
High Accuracy GIS Data Collection and Maintenance
Trimble's Asset Surveyor 5.0 software is available as a system controller for the GPS Pathfinder® Pro XR and Pro XRS systems. For high accuracy data collection and maintenance, the software can also be used with Trimble's real-time kinematic (RTK) survey receivers, including the 4700 and 4800 GPS receivers.
Trimble's Asset Surveyor version 5.0 software will be available early November through the company's sales and dealer network. The software will be available in 6 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Russian.
