New York City Selects Trimble GPS for
Mapping and GIS Applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 3, 2002 - Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that it has been awarded a contract from the City of New York to supply Global Positioning System (GPS)-based products for mapping and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications. The two-year contract is valued up to $1 million.
Under the contract, six New York City municipal departments-Design and Construction, Parks, Environmental Protection, Transportation, Sanitation and New York Police-can purchase any Trimble mapping and GIS product. The goal is to select a supplier that could provide a broad range of GPS products as an equipment platform to allow the City to standardize information data collection for its GIS databases. Trimble's GPS products will be used for a variety of citywide mapping services and support.
