Trimble Announces New Version of its Trident-3D Software with
KARLSRUHE, Germany, Sept. 22, 2009 — Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today version 4.5 of its Trimble Trident-3D™ software suite. The software suite allows service providers and infrastructure managers to improve productivity by rapidly capturing roadway data and automating their workflow for information extraction.
The announcement was made today at the Intergeo 2009 conference and trade fair for geodesy, geoinformation and land management.
Trimble Trident-3D version 4.5 software includes new functionality and enhancements:
The Trimble Trident-3D software provides a comprehensive suite of tools to capture imagery and LIDAR data along roadways and extract information. The version 4.5 enhancements increase the resulting positional accuracy with new modules for automatic survey control point detection (such as of spherical targets) in LIDAR data, and point cloud-to-point cloud registration. New and enhanced functions are provided for breakline detection and creation such as edge-of-pavement, centerline, crown, and pavement markings. The new LandXML export provides workflow compatibility with many industry standard computer aided design (CAD) applications.
"Processing LIDAR data can be cumbersome, inefficient, and less accurate due to the enormous amount of data that can be captured by mobile mapping," said Rob Huber, transportation segment manager for Trimble's GeoSpatial Division. "Trident-3D version 4.5 can help solve these challenges by automating the workflow for the creation of accurate as-built models of roadways."
Trimble's Trident-3D software suite is used with more than 50 mobile mapping vans by transportation service providers and organizations throughout the world.
Trimble Trident-3D version 4.5 is expected to be available in October of 2009.
About Trimble's GeoSpatial Division
Trimble's GeoSpatial Division comprises the acquisitions of Geo-3D Inc., RolleiMetric, TopoSys GmbH, and Inpho GmbH. Using mobile mapping, photogrammetry and LIDAR to complement Trimble's Integrated Surveying™, Spatial Imaging, Site Positioning, and Mapping and GIS solutions, the focus is on integrating these technologies into end-to-end solutions that effectively tackle real-world challenges faced by service providers as well as infrastructure managers. Trimble solutions streamline the collection and maintenance of high-accuracy as-built models for aerial and land mobile mapping, transportation, and utilities and energy transmission & distribution industries. As part of the Trimble Connected Site™ solutions, high-accuracy as-built models enable advanced process and workflow integration from the planning phase, through design and construction, to the subsequent maintenance phase—delivering significant improvements in productivity.
Trimble applies technology to make field and mobile workers in businesses and government significantly more productive. Solutions are focused on applications requiring position or location—including surveying, construction, agriculture, fleet and asset management, public safety and mapping. In addition to utilizing positioning technologies, such as GPS, lasers and optics, Trimble solutions may include software content specific to the needs of the user. Wireless technologies are utilized to deliver the solution to the user and to ensure a tight coupling of the field and the back office. Founded in 1978, Trimble is headquartered in Sunnyvale, Calif.
