Trimble Adds New GPS Smart Antenna to its Ag Product Line
GRAND ISLAND, Neb., Sept. 10, 2002 - Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) introduced today a new positioning sensor in its family of AgGPS® agriculture products--the AgGPS 106 DGPS smart antenna. The AgGPS 106 DGPS smart antenna provides farmers and agriculture equipment system integrators with a simple and cost-effective solution for adding real-time, Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) capability to agriculture applications such as yield monitoring, field mapping and soil sampling.
The announcement was made at the Husker Harvest Days Farm Show.
High Performance, Real-Time DGPS
The AgGPS 106 DGPS smart antenna builds on more than 20 years of Trimble experience as a GPS industry leader. It leverages core GPS technology from other Trimble market segments where high performance is required. The unit's ultra-rugged design incorporates a DGPS receiver and antenna all in a single, compact, waterproof housing. With its built-in DGPS receiver, the AgGPS 106 provides reliable meter-level relative positioning using free differential correction messages from the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) service.
The AgGPS 106 is a plug-and-play solution with many of the current agricultural yield monitoring and mapping applications. The DGPS smart antenna's compact design is ideal for users that want a simple installation and the ability to easily move it from one vehicle to another. Additionally, communication settings can be configured to allow connection to any agricultural equipment that accepts NMEA messages.
The AgGPS 106 DGPS smart antenna is available now through Trimble's agriculture reseller network. To find a reseller, visit Trimble's Web site at: http://www.trimble.com/locator/sales.asp.
