Trimble Introduces New Rugged Handheld Data Controller to Expand Construction Site Positioning
Powerful Controller Features Full Keyboard for Total Station or GPS System Operation
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Aug. 10, 2005 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today announced the Trimble® TSC2™ Controller for use with the Company's Site Positioning System. The Site Positioning System provides contractors with a simplified approach to site measurement and stakeout applications that is easy to learn and use.
The construction-centric TSC2 Controller runs Trimble SCS900 Site Controller Software on a Microsoft® Windows® Mobile operating system. Designed for total station or GPS operation, the rugged hand-held controller offers integrated Bluetooth® technology and optional integrated 2.4GHz radio for cable-free operation when working robotically with a total station.
The intuitive, easy-to-use interface has the power to hold information for multiple jobsites. Users can operate the SCS900 Site Controller software on the TSC2 Controller by using the fully illuminated alphanumeric keyboard and 8-way spider key, or using the color touch screen. The touch screen provides simplifies navigation, data input and selection, positioning, and stakeout.
The TSC2 Controller graphic display's reflective LCD technology is designed to be easy to read in bright sunlight and is back lit to operate in low light levels, such as on dark winter days. The highly visible color display makes it easy to read simple text, as well as complex maps and technical drawings. The controller comes standard with 512 MB of Flash memory and 128MB RAM. It also comes standard with two compact flash expansion card slots and one SD card slot. The large storage capacity means that data from large or multiple projects can be collected, and contractors can work in the field longer without backup storage. Measured surface or design data can be transferred between SCS900 and GCS900 3D Grade Control systems providing the ability to get machines working with data without having to return to the office to prepare information.
Water and dust-resistant to withstand weather and jobsite conditions, the TSC2 Controller is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -30 C to +60 C (-22 F to +140 F).
The Trimble TSC2 Controller is available now through Trimble's Construction Division dealer network.
