About Trimble and GIS
Trimble pioneered the introduction and use of handheld field GPS/GIS data collection systems in 1987. Since then, GPS has become the premier tool for providing position information for managing urban, utility and natural resource GIS databases. In 1999, Trimble introduced the new concept of GPS/GIS data maintenance. This concept utilizes advanced GPS technology and innovative software, like TerraSync, to enable users to relocate, verify and update positions and attributes in the field. This ensures that the GIS contains the most up-to-date and accurate information necessary for meaningful decision making.
Trimble's TerraSync software will be available mid July through the company's sales and dealer network. An evaluation copy of the software can be downloaded from the Trimble Web site at http://www.trimble.com/gis
