Trimble and LocatioNet Sign Joint Marketing Agreement
for Fleet and Mobile Resource Management
SUNNYVALE, Calif., and MANHATTAN, New York, June 17, 2003 -- Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) and LocatioNet, Inc., the developer of a comprehensive integrated platform for the delivery of location-based services (LBS) in the international wireless market, have entered into a joint marketing agreement to offer fleet and mobile resource management services using Trimble's CrossCheck® Global Positioning System (GPS) mobile device.
Under the agreement, LocatioNet will offer Trimble's CrossCheck smart mobile unit as part of a turn key fleet and mobile resource management solution. LocatioNet and Trimble will work together to drive business opportunities and collaborate on fleet and mobile resource management projects in South America, Europe and Asia. The solution will be marketed to wireless carriers so they can leverage their infrastructure and sales channel to offer end-customers a broad range of fleet and mobile resource management applications.
"We're pleased to be collaborating with Trimble," said Gadi BenMark, CEO and President of LocatioNet, Inc. "By working together, we will be able to offer network operators the latest in GPS technology for location-based applications."
"Latin America, Europe and Asia are emerging markets for location-based services. Partnering with LocatioNet, will enable us to work closely with wireless operators to make these services a reality," said Michael Lesyna, vice president and general manager of Trimble's Mobile Solutions Division.
Trimble's CrossCheck smart mobile unit integrates a GPS receiver, a wireless communication system, and computing power in a single, compact enclosure. The unit will be used to determine and communicate current vehicle status, including position, speed and direction to LocatioNet's LBS platform. It can also be interfaced with external accessories and sensors as part of an on-board system to monitor vehicle status and to activate vehicle security peripherals such as ignition lockout or audible alarms. The CrossCheck can automatically report arrival or departure from defined job site or home site locations. It also allows various asset utilization calculations such as time spent and distance traveled on job. The unit mounts conveniently in the vehicle and requires no operator access or involvement.
The LocatioNet Platform receives data from Trimble's CrossCheck, and through the LocatioNet GIS engine facilitates high-speed geo-coding and reverse geo-coding, map rendering (vector, aerial photos, and scanned maps) and routing. The platform offers carriers a complete set of interfaces to billing, provisioning, customer care, and an advanced privacy management tool. The platform supports the LocatioNet suite of fleet management applications.
With a track record of over twelve years in the location based services arena, LocatioNet offers a comprehensive, integrated platform for wireless location based services. The LocatioNet middleware integrates content, applications, position determination and GIS technologies to quickly fulfill user requests over a variety of mobile handsets. The platform seamlessly integrates with the operator's existing service network, user provisioning, billing, and OMAP systems. LocatioNet's powerful add-on GIS Engine supports map rendering, geo-coding and routing for all LocatioNet Platform integrated LBS service applications.
LocatioNet provides an attractive set of applications, for both consumer and corporate markets, to maximize revenue generation and customer retention.
