Ultra-Rugged Pocket PC Controller Makes GPS Surveying Simple
SUNNYVALE, Calif., March 16, 2006 Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) announced today that its Trimble® 5800 Limited GPS System is now available in additional markets outside North America. The Trimble 5800 Limited GPS System consists of a cable-free base station together with a real-time kinematic (RTK) rover. Each receiver combines a dual-frequency GPS receiver, antenna, UHF radio, and battery in a single compact unit. The system is ideal for stakeout, control, and topographic surveys on small- to medium-sized job sites. With its easy-to-use software and ultra-rugged controller, the Trimble 5800 Limited makes surveying simple. It is ideal for the first-time GPS users.
The Trimble 5800 Limited GPS System includes the ultra-rugged Trimble Recon® Controller with a new version of the intuitive and easy-to-use Trimble Digital Fieldbook™ RTK software. This new version of Trimble Digital Fieldbook RTK software is used outside North America as the tool for RTK data collection and stakeout on the Trimble 5800 Limited platform. The Trimble Recon Controller features the Microsoft® Windows Mobile™ for Pocket PC operating system. Using this industry-standard operating system, the color graphic display and all menu and screen options are familiar and easy-to-use. Surveyors can run complementary Pocket PC applications on the Trimble Recon Controller, such as Pocket Word, Excel, or other specialized programs that allow surveyors to take the convenience of their office to the field. In the office, the Trimble 5800 Limited GPS System is downloaded into Trimble Geomatics Office™ software for quality checks, data management, and data exchange with CAD and design systems.
The Trimble 5800 Limited GPS system offers a field-proven ergonomic design that is lightweight, rugged, and cable-free. The system is powered by field-proven Trimble Maxwell™ GPS technology, providing fast and reliable GPS surveying. The Trimble 5800 Limited can withstand a pole drop of 2 meters and its environmental specifications include a water resistance rating of IPX7. The complete base/rover system is packed in a single, easy-to-carry transport case.
The system is an important part of Trimble's Integrated Surveying™ solution and the Connected Survey Site model. The data flow is seamless and ensures efficiency and optimal productivity on the job.
