Ready Mix Companies Choose Trimble for Fleet Management

State-of-the-Art Solution Increases Productivity, Efficiency and Automates Reporting

LAS VEGAS, March 15, 2005 -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that its subsidiary, Trimble Mobile Solutions, Inc. (TMS), has secured several new installations of its ready mix mobile resource management (MRM) solution to improve fleet efficiency and productivity. New wins include Lattimore Materials Company, L.P., with 300 units in Texas; Rinker Materials Corporation with 243 units in its Las Vegas location; and MMC Materials with 116 units in Mississippi and Alabama.

The announcement was made today at ConExpo, the world's largest international exhibition in 2005 for the construction and construction materials industries. Trimble will be located in the Las Vegas Convention Center South Booth #15905.

The companies have installed the TrimView RM system to monitor and communicate orders to their fleet of ready mix concrete trucks. The system, which utilizes a wireless in-vehicle communication gateway and unique sensors, integrates with dispatch software to enable automatic vehicle status information.

"The Trimble solution has automated our delivery status reporting significantly and eliminated driver reporting errors," said Paul Rouse, vice president of Concrete Operations for Lattimore Materials Company in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. "It has improved our productivity as far as yards per man hours - and that means you're hauling more concrete in a given time frame. It is working well for us."

Rinker is planning to roll out the TrimView RM system on its fleet of more than 3,000 trucks over the next 12 months. Currently they have 180 installed in several locations and have just installed 243 units in their Las Vegas fleet. In addition, 678 units are expected to be installed in the company's Arizona fleet this summer.

MCC Materials is adding 116 units to their Metro-River Area, which covers the Jackson-Vicksburg area in Mississippi; the current purchase of 116 units is in addition to their initial installation of 50. Some units came pre-installed in McNeilus trucks; others were installed as aftermarket products at the company.

TrimView Ready Mix Fleet Management Solution

The TrimView RM fleet management system includes hardware, wireless connectivity, software and service. The automated system allows fleet managers to use real-time vehicle location and status to improve dispatch decision making. In addition, TrimView is compatible with most dispatch and enterprise software products used by ready mix concrete producers.

To be efficient, ready mix concrete dispatchers must constantly check incoming customer orders against concrete production and delivery capacities. Historically, truck drivers have used radio, cell phones, or push button status boxes to send information to dispatchers. The problem: drivers must provide status updates manually, and do it consistently. Often the dispatcher receives incomplete or inaccurate information from the field.

The TrimView RM fleet management system solves this problem by using GPS technology and sensors to automate the delivery cycle. Dispatchers no longer need to depend on drivers for timely status information. Instead, they receive automated information via the Internet including: truck status when loading at the plant, leaving the plant, arriving at the job, adding water to the concrete, starting/ending the concrete pour, washing the vehicle, leaving the job, and arriving at the plant to complete the delivery cycle. The TrimView RM fleet management system automates the entire process.
