Trimble and AmeriQuest to Form Distribution
Alliance for Mobile Asset Tracking
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Feb. 28, 2005 -- Trimble (NASDAQ: TRMB) announced today that its subsidiary, Trimble Mobile Solutions, Inc. (TMS), has signed a memorandum of understanding to form a distribution alliance with AmeriQuest Transportation and Logistics Resources Corporation. The companies will offer low-cost asset tracking and security solutions using Trimble's TrimTracTM locator. The TrimTrac locator, based on Global Positioning System (GPS) and cellular communications, is a palm-sized, battery operated device that enables fleet operators to locate cargo, trailers, heavy equipment, and other high value assets via the Internet.
"AmeriQuest continually looks for value added solutions such as the TrimTrac locator to expand our state-of-the-art technology services, which reach a network of 525,000 transportation vehicles," said Doug Clark, CEO of AmeriQuest. "Trimble Mobile Solutions is a premier partner and the TrimTrac locator's affordable price, small footprint, and unique feature set fill a real need. We believe this alliance will be very well-received by our customers."
"Trimble Mobile Solutions is very pleased to work with AmeriQuest in providing asset tracking and security solutions. The TrimTrac locator brings value to any company with distributed assets, whether rolling stock or cargo," said Rick Beyer, CEO of Trimble Mobile Solutions. "The benefits of the TrimTrac solution are aligned with AmeriQuest's mission to enable cost savings and enhanced performance for their transportation industry customers. Their large customer base and technology know-how make them an ideal distribution partner."
"The TrimTrac locator is easy to install, with no wires or external antennas," commented Eric White, Business Development Manager for Trimble Mobile Solutions. "TrimTrac's enhanced GPS sensitivity and compact size make it ideal for discrete placement in vehicles or cargo. The TrimTrac locator supports 900 positions using four AA batteries or an external
12 volt source."
TMS and AmeriQuest intend to offer multiple service plans designed to enable asset management for a variety of fleet and transportation organizations. The solution is expected to be available in the second quarter of 2005.
