Trimble Introduces Handheld Laser Distance Meter for Contractors
The New Spectra Precision Laser HD360 from Trimble
Provides Accurate and Safe Distance Measurements
NEW ORLEANS, Jan. 9, 2002 - Trimble (NASDAQ:TRMB) today introduced the new Spectra Precision Laser HD360, a handheld distance measurement tool that delivers speed, accuracy and safety to builders, engineers and other construction-related contractors. It is especially useful for measuring distances to hazardous and hard-to-reach locations.
The announcement was made today at the World of Concrete, the industry's largest annual commercial construction show.
The HD360 is an easy-to-use, portable contractor's tool that includes a data display screen and a six-button keypad. Using laser technology, it is capable of measuring distance, area and volume, whether indoors or outdoors. The HD360's accuracy is 3 mm or better, at ranges up to 60 meters.
Another key benefit of the HD360 is the ability to easily and safely measure. Since no physical contact with the distance target is required, the HD360 is ideal for measuring to hazardous or difficult-to-reach locations such as those in high places, over obstacles or in lift shafts, among others.
The HD360 is designed to meet the distance measuring needs of general construction contractorsincluding builders and engineersas well as electrical and mechanical contractors, structural engineers and virtually all other types of construction-related trades. It measures more accurately, more reliably and faster than traditional distance measuring techniques. Created with convenience and safety in mind, the HD360 improves productivity and eliminates costly rework.
"As the original manufacturer and supplier of construction lasers, Trimble is committed to providing our customers with safe and dependable tools for dealing with the job-site challenges they face on a daily basis," said Pat Bohle, division vice president for Construction Instruments for Trimble's Engineering and Construction Division. "Today's contractor and building maintenance professional who, in the past, has used traditional methods for measuring and aligning is now learning that lasers are an affordable and efficient alternative. The HD360 features advanced technology that is not only easy to use, but also allows for the quickest and most accurate solutions."
The HD360 can be used for building checks and inspections, positioning of building components, building maintenance, alignment and spacing of installation points, installation of drywalls and ceilings, layout from fixed reference points, and calculation of areas and volumes.
The Spectra Precision Laser HD360 from Trimble is available now through the Company's Engineering and Construction Division dealer network.
