Trimble Urban Forestry Solution

Green infrastructure and urban forests bring many environmental and economic benefits to cities and are an essential element of municipal initiatives. Effectively measuring and managing urban forests to accomplish safety and green initiatives can be challenging. To help governments overcome this, Trimble Urban Forestry combines a suite of technologies to offer a comprehensive vegetation and urban forestry solution for data collection, condition assessment, and analysis.

Powered by Cengea, Trimble Urban Forestry is a robust collection, analysis, and management solution for urban forestry professionals. Trimble Urban Forestry works with ArcGIS. Use the base solution or customize to meet your needs; configuration and deployment services available.

  • Trimble MGIS – Precise and rugged, reliable, data collection.
  • Trimble Forestry – Cloud-based urban forestry software management, mapping, and mobile deployment.
  • Trimble INPHO – Digital photogrammetry and laser scanning data production software.
  • Trimble eCognition –The original object-based image analysis software.
  • Trimble GreenSeeker - Optical sensors in the system measure and quantify the variability of the vegetation condition and create a targeted prescription for treatment.

Urban Forestry meets Urban Agriculture:

In an ambitious geospatial project, San Jose State University and local non-profit, Garden to Table, joined forces to connect families in need with excess local produce. The Urban-Forestry-meets-Agriculture project enabled the group to more than double its collection and distribution of fresh produce, feeding the hungry with fruits grown locally in private yards and gardens.

"With (Trimble's) mobile solution, we mapped 1,400 trees and did that in roughly 160 hours," said Zach Lewis, Project Coordinator for Garden-to-Table and a graduate student in SJSU's Urban Planning department. This represented almost 50 percent more trees mapped in half the number of hours, and in only four weeks compared with 18 months.

"The application revolutionizes the way we are able to look at our tree data," said Lewis.
