Mobile Survey
Mobile Survey provides a topographic route survey - a survey of the location and construction of a corridor of transportation or other infrastructure such as roads, roadways, railroads, power lines, pipelines, open-conduit systems, and other infrastructure with a linear geometry. A topographic route survey typically requires the collection of profiles and cross sections along with other topographic features. Profile elevations are obtained at all stations, points of curvature, points of tangency and breaks in the natural ground profile at sufficient intervals to properly represent the terrain. Cross sections include the elevation of all breaks in grade and the identification of horizontal features, materials, and edges. Natural and man-made topographic features such as pavement markings, signs, guardrails, bridges, retaining walls, sidewalks, driveways, poles, utilities, buildings, rock outcroppings, and other roadside features and obstacles are collected.
Trimble's Mobile Data Capture Systems can be configured with mobile laser scanning and metric digital cameras to perform mobile survey. The key to accurate data collection is the tight integration between the sensors and the positioning and orientation system, as well as the incorporation of sufficient ground control points into the positioning solution.
Trimble's Mobile Data Capture Systems and Office Software provide a complete solution for applications such as:
- DTM/TIN modeling
- Road expansion or realignment planning
- Material quantity calculations
- Road superelevation compliance with highway safety standards
- Corridor clearance and line-of-sight distance calculations
- Detailed bridge inspection
Trimble's solution is optimized to provide service providers and infrastructure managers with an accurate, streamlined, and efficient workflow. We are focused on providing increasingly automated processing to generate 3D, 4D, and 5D as-built models with higher accuracy, reduced turnaround time and less rework.
The Trimble Trident-3D software provides a comprehensive suite of tools to capture imagery and laser scanner data along roadways and extract information. Recent enhancements increase the resulting positional accuracy with new modules for automatic survey control point detection (such as of spherical targets) in laser scanner data, and point cloud-to-point cloud registration. New and enhanced functions are provided for breakline detection and creation such as edge-of-pavement, centerline, crown, and pavement markings. LandXML export provides workflow compatibility with many industry standard computer aided design (CAD) applications.
Affordable upgrade paths are available to add mobile survey capability to your existing Trimble mobile video logging or asset management system. These upgrade paths make maximum use of your previous investment in components and subsystems.
