Features:
The version 5.3.2 firmware update addresses the following bugs found in earlier versions the GeoExplorer 2008 series operating system:

  • - Updated default system date
  • - SD cards inaccessible following suspend/resume
  • - Incorrect Japanese characters in Bluetooth PAN Control Panel
  • - GeoExplorer handheld making unexpected chirping noises


    • Installation Instructions:
  • - Ensure that your GeoExplorer 2008 series has the GeoExplorer 2008 series Windows Mobile 6.1 Operating System (version 5.3.1). If it does not, install that update first before proceeding.
  • - Download the operating system firmware upgrade package to an office computer.
  • - Ensure that your GeoExplorer 2008 series handheld is in the support module, connected to a power source and connected to your computer using ActiveSync technology or the Windows Mobile Device Center.
  • - Browse to the location where you saved the upgrade file and then copy the executable file to the handheld.
  • - On the handheld, tap the packaged CAB file to install it. The update will install automatically.
    • v2.11 - GeoExplorer 2008 series, GPS Firmware - May 2011(GeoExplorer 2008 series v2.11 GPS Firmware.exe - 2092 KB)Download this executable to upgrade your GeoExplorer 2008 series handheld to GPS firmware version 2.11.

    Warning! This firmware upgrade is only compatible with the following Trimble field software versions.

  • Trimble TerraSync software version 4.00, or later
  • Trimble GPScorrect extension for Esri ArcPad software version 3.00, or later
  • Trimble GPS Controller software version 2.22, or later
  • Applications developed with the Trimble GPS Pathfinder Tools SDK version 2.33, or later.


    • Once this firmware has been uploaded onto your device, you will not be able to revert to a previous version. For more information contact your local sales representative. If you are using a third-party software, please contact the vendor of that software directly to confirm whether or not it will continue to run with the version 2.11 firmware.

    Installation Instructions:

  • Download the GPS firmware upgrade file to an office computer.
  • Ensure that your GeoExplorer 2008 series handheld is in the support module, connected to a power source and connected to your computer using ActiveSync technology or the Windows Mobile Device Center.
  • Browse to the location where you saved the upgrade file and then run the executable file to start the upgrade process. The upgrade files are automatically transferred to your GeoExplorer 2008 series handheld and the upgrade begins automatically.


    • SD Card Recognition CAB File - March 2011(SD_card_power.CAB - KB)This CAB file updates the GeoExplorer 2008 / 3000 series units that fail to recognize SD cards, or when an inserted SD card cannot be used to read/write to. Copy the file to the handheld and run the CAB file to install it.
    GeoExplorer 2008 Series, Windows Mobile 6.1 OS – December 2009This download allows you to upgrade the operating system of your GeoExplorer 2008 Series handheld to Windows Mobile 6.1.

    Features:
    • Improved handling of CMR+ corrections.
    • Version 2.03 GPS firmware addresses issues in the GeoExplorer 2008 series receiver with the handling of CMR+ corrections for real-time subfoot accuracy with a GeoXH handheld, or DGPS level accuracy with GeoXT and GeoXM handhelds.
    • The version 2.03 GPS firmware contains changes for using Japan’s MSAS (SBAS) corrections, including a revised zone where MSAS can be used.
