Activating the Bluetooth radio
GeoExplorer series handhelds are shipped with the integrated Bluetooth wireless technology deactivated. Before you can use the integrated Bluetooth radio, you must activate it. You may only activate the Bluetooth radio if:
- You have a GeoExplorer series handheld with PN 49050-xx or 50950-xx
- The Windows CE .NET or Windows Mobile 2003 operating system is installed on the handheld
- Type approval for Bluetooth-enabled GeoExplorer series handhelds has been granted in the country where you will use the handheld
To activate the integrated Bluetooth radio:
www.trimble.com/register. You must enter the serial number from the back of the handheld. When you have registered, Trimble will send you an Installation Serial Number.
2.Go to www.trimble.com/support.html, click GeoXT or GeoXM, click Downloads, click Activate Bluetooth, and then download the Bluetooth activation utility.
3.Run the downloaded Bluetooth activation utility. You will need to enter the Installation Serial Number that you received when you registered the GeoExplorer series handheld.
Note: If you have upgraded the handheld from a Windows CE 3.0-based operating system to the Windows CE .NET operating system, you do not need to use the Bluetooth activation utility. If you are in a country where Bluetooth type approval has been granted, the integrated Bluetooth radio is activated during the upgrade process.
Deactivating the Bluetooth radio
You can deactivate the integrated Bluetooth radio at any time. You may need to deactivate the Bluetooth radio if:
1.You are working in a country where type approval for Bluetooth-enabled GeoExplorer series handhelds has not been granted.
2.You want to prevent field crews from accidentally turning on the Bluetooth radio.
To deactivate the Bluetooth radio:
www.trimble.com/support.html, click GeoXT or GeoXM, click Downloads, click Deactivate Bluetooth, and then download the Bluetooth deactivation utility.
2.Run the downloaded Bluetooth deactivation utility.
3.Soft reset the handheld.
