PROYECTO MÉXICO is a cartographic project to develop accurate and high precision digital maps at different scales covering all of Mexico. Scales offered are 1:5,000 for urban zones, 1:20,000 for regional purposes and 1:200,000 for the whole country. This project supports and provides data in standard formats and in various reference systems. PEMEX is the largest and most important government company in Mexico with a large number of oil facilities across the whole country that need to be inventoried. The PEMEX Pipeline Department is currently capturing all of the company's pipeline infrastructure using mobile systems based on the Trimble® GeoXM™ handheld and a customized version of the SIGSA Mapa Móvil data capture application. The captured information is transferred to ESRI ArcInfo, ArcSDE, and ArcIMS GIS for analysis and use via internet. CFE is Mexico's second largest government company and is tasked with providing electric power supply. CFE is undertaking an electric pole census (CENSAP) covering the Southern Central Regional states of Puebla, Guerrero, Estado de México, and Michoacan. The objective of the census is to capture all electric poles and associated attribute information in all of the municipalities of the Southern Central states. CFE is using a customized version of SIGSA's Mapa Móvil application with the Trimble GeoXM handheld for field capture. The captured information is downloaded to ESRI ArcView for generating reports and thematic maps. CAN is a division of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Department with responsibility for managing Mexico's aquifer resources. CAN are undertaking a national inventory of the water supply facilities (dams, wells, etc) with the goal of developing a complete database that will enable analysis of water availability across the whole country. The field work for this inventory is being undertaken with a mobile solution using Trimble GeoXM and GeoXT™ handhelds and a customized Mapa Móvil application. |
