Significant Digits Incorporated (SDI) is a software engineering company that focuses primarily on the utility industry. SDI provides software tools and embedded systems for route management, meter reading, and utility billing. SDI was incorporated in 1992 when work was begun on the first EZReader route management system that was the industries first Microsoft® Windows® based tool.
SDI has collaborated with the top meter and electronic equipment providers to offer the customer the highest possible quality in equipment and software tools. SDI is also constantly updating and increasing the scope of their products as related technologies evolve. As new enhancement technologies become available, SDI is quick to enhance the feature list for all its products.
In the 1990s, after the DOD opened the GPS technology to the civil markets, Trimble developed the premier solution tools. The obvious benefits of GPS technology for all industries that maintain physical infrastructures led to its rapid popularity. Trimble offers the most accurate GPS tools along with program SDK libraries, enabling the value added resellers like SDI to leverage these benefits in their tool mix.
SDI utilizes Trimble's high performance GPS to gather V&H coordinates for infrastructure points such as meters and service lines. Likewise, the equipment locates previously captured points. The data is available to all tools the customer wishes to integrate. SDI integrates the Trimble® GPS Pathfinder ProXT™ receiver with handhelds, smart phones, and PDAs utilizing Windows Mobile®.
This tool is used for collecting meter readings, coordinates, photos, etc. The software runs on Microsoft Windows CE and Windows Mobile environments. EZReaderCE is currently used on the PsionTeklogix WorkAbout Pro handheld, any Windows Mobile smart phone, and the HP iPAQ; but can be used on most Windows Mobile or Windows CE devices.
EZReader6 is a route management tool that runs on a desktop or laptop computer. Its primary function is to serve as a bridge between the host system and the meter-reading device. EZReader6 also serves as a database that stores and manages meter coordinates for each point.
