Global Relief Technologies

Global Relief Technologies (GRT) was founded to help organizations in remote or disconnected environments report critical information in real time. Our mission is to assist emergency responders, humanitarian and reconstruction communities, and global companies operating in austere environments collect critical data from remote locations via a secure, integrated solution that provides for a more effective evaluation of, and response to, crisis situations. This means relief workers in Africa can collect and instantly transmit crucial health data from a remote village for immediate analysis and help stem an outbreak of disease. It means that U.S. emergency responders working in areas devastated by a hurricane or earthquake can quickly assess the situation on the ground so resources are allocated properly. It means that real-time reporting and data analysis is possible no matter where you are located on the globe.

At GRT, we combine our years of practical experience with our technical expertise in GIS mapping, satellite imagery, and satellite communications to deliver a fully integrated end-to-end data collection and analysis solution. Organizations including the American Red Cross, the International Medical Corps, and the U.S. Marine Corps count on GRT for the real-time data collection and analysis they need to make informed decisions.

The GRT solution consists of three basic parts: (1) the handheld device, which consists of a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) loaded with Rapid Data Management System (RDMS) software; (2) a satellite terminal for communicating voice and data when cellular and land lines are unavailable or not working; (3) the Virtual Network Operations Center (VNOC), a Web-based interface that allows operation managers to access and manage the information collected by field personnel.
