Sample projects:

  • County Road Department Custom ArcGIS Personal Geodatabase

GISW worked with County staff to customize a geodatabase for the roads superintendent. The specialized forms, tailored to roads department features such as signposts, bridges, culverts, and pavement management, helped staff collect uniform data in a timely and accurate manner. This GISW solution incorporated Trimble® GeoXT™ handhelds and ESRI ArcPad software for field data collection.

  • Custom Road Department GPS Analyst Application

GISW customized the Trimble GPS Analyst extension for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop. The new, simplified interface allowed planning and development staff to make split-second changes in ArcGIS while connected to the GPS receiver. Staff used the interface so they could remain in their vehicle while collecting data such as coordinates, speed limit changes, and mile marker locations. This laptop solution integrated a Trimble GPS Pathfinder® ProXT™ receiver.

  • Rural Water District Custom ArcExplorer Program

GISW helped a Kansas rural water district collect data and integrate it with ESRI’s ArcExplorer software. The customized application included features such as hydrants, valves, mains, and clean outs. This GISW solution featured Trimble GPScorrect™ extension for ESRI ArcPad and Trimble GPS Analyst™ extension for ESRI ArcGIS Desktop software to process the previously collected GPS data.

  • Mobile Water/Wastewater Toolbar

The Mobile Water/Wastewater Toolbar is an enhanced version of the ArcPad’s Utility Toolbar. GISW recently integrated the Toolbar for an Iowa city which included 1,542 system valves and 1,001 hydrants in a 72,818 acre area. This city utility mobile project involved software customization to fit specifically within the client's data collection process. We incorporated external databases, customized the ArcPad interface, and linked various external sensors to meet all requirements. This mobile solution used a Trimble GeoExplorer® 2008 series GeoXH™ handheld unit and ESRI ArcPad 7.1.

  • Mobile Weed Tracker

County weed departments utilize Mobile Weed Tracker to collect various weed infestation and treatment information in the field. It includes enhanced ArcPad tools designed to speed field collection processes and simplify the data collection for the end user. Designed for weed management users across Nebraska, the application provides field users with a common template for data collection. The application helps novice users record and track weed infestation and treatment policies throughout their area and upload those data to various county and state agencies. Mobile Weed Tracker is often used with the Trimble Juno® SB handheld, for durability and photographic ability, to easily assess weed locations in parcels across large jurisdictions.
