Cutting to the chase with the AgGPS FieldLevel II system
Chris Galloway has been using the AgGPS® FieldLevel II RTK system with AgGPS 442 GNSS receiver
"It has a nice, big display and is much more intuitive than other systems we've used. Overall, the AgGPS 442 receiver has good accuracy and allows us to use the GLONASS satellites as part of the RTK solution. I believe the system gives us much better accuracy than we've had in the past."
Galloway has been using FieldLevel II in a Sacramento Valley rice growing operation. "When we finish gathering elevation data in a given rice check, we're essentially done. I send the data to a surveyor from the tractor using a wireless laptop and he gets back to me in minutes as to whether he's satisfied with the job. That's a huge time saver for us."
"It's a big deal for us to be able to set multiple grades into a land leveling system. We can cut at one grade, fill at another grade, and so forth. Other systems also allow that, but it seems like the 442 receiver lets us do it a little easier than the others".
"On one project the customer said, "We need to build a levee between two roads." Getting that done was really simple. We just set an "A" point and a "B" point. Then we simply drove between them and it allowed us to set grade and fill this whole area without doing anything special—no need for engineering involvement. That's a big deal for us, to be able to just go onto a site and figure out on our own what we need to do without hiring anybody to come out and survey".
"That's probably the biggest bonus we've gotten out of the system. When you use the FieldLevel II with 442 receiver, you can cut right to the chase".
